Witch Hat Atelier Volume 2
Synopsis
Witch Hat Atelier Volume 2 opens to the harrowing scene of Coco and three other witch apprentices trapped in a seemingly inescapable maze with a fire-breathing dragon. There are also the Knights Moralis watching to see if Coco is genuinely meant to be a witch or if her memory should be erased. The novice witch Coco, along with her peers, must continue improving their skills and prove that they deserve to be in this magical world with their memories intact. Their growth and determination will surely keep you invested in their journey.
Review and Recommendation
*Spoiler Alert* (A spoiler alert is being issued because there are mentions of specific plot points that relate to the rating of this review.)
There are numerous plots in Witch Hat Atelier, Volume 2, that work together to further develop the world of WHA (Witch Hat Atelier). The author does a fantastic job of weaving intense trials with sweet moments of learning for Coco. This combination not only highlights Coco’s vulnerability and desire to learn but also reveals the emotional depth of the story. The lack of skill and the lack of encouragement from her other peers make her journey all the more relatable. Also, the Knights Moralis added good tension to the plot while also contributing more world-building. I’m interested in where the plot goes further in the next volume.
Cautions
The age recommendation for Witch Hat Atelier, Volume 2, remains for ages 10 and up. Again, this is due to the action and adventure sequences. There is also one brief instance of nudity. In one of the panels, there is an image of what looks to be a fairy holding a pen with its chest exposed. This image can be easily covered with a sticker if needed. Overall, the story remains wholesome and uplifting.
